Gyal Con 2019

A weekend of Caribbean women’s empowerment through education, networking and mentorship.

We held our first conference on March 13 - 17, 2019 during which we were able to facilitate a series of events for Vincentian women and girls. Gyal Con 2019 was hosted in collaboration with Tereneh Idia @idiadegafashion with funding provided by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs via Meridian.

The first part of Gyal Con 2019 was our Women Entrepreneur Series, a two-day workshop for our Vincy gyal bosses. Our guest facilitators included social media strategist Maria Joyette @monetgram_, public speaker and systems builder Carly-Ann Fergus @carlyann_fergus, and entrepreneurial consultant Dr. Niyan Fraser @frasermonelleec.

We firmly believe that it’s never to early to start practicing self-love. For part two of our Gyal Con weekend we were able to work with teen girls from St. Vincent and the Grenadines with activities led by the fabulous Roselle Solomon.

Gyal Con 2019 came to a close with our very first Vision Board Party! We were able to share a creative space to explore our ideas and piece together all the powerful things us gyals planned to do in the future. Our Vision Board Party was hosted by the amazing Zahra Gaskin-De Freitas, founder of Happy Brown Girls Global.

Overall, Gyal Con 2019 was an inspiring and uplifting week of gyals working together for each other!

Remember that today you are blessed, you are gyal power and together, nothing cyan’t stop we!
