Caribbean Gyals in Film

On March 27, 2021 Soka Gyal in collaboration with Hairouna Film Festival organized a virtual panel discussion with four prominent and accomplished women filmmakers and actresses from across the Caribbean. The discussion was moderated by HFF director Aiko Roudette and included Michelle Serieux, Melanie Grant, Shanique Brown and Shantol Jackson.

Melanie, Shantol, Shanique and Michelle were invited to talk about their filmmaking experiences in relation to their gender, the perceived roles of women in Caribbean society, and how the industry could increase inclusivity and transparency.
